A wildlife stay in Sandakan-3D2N (Package N1) ▪ Sepilok Orang Utan Centre ▪

Overview

Looking out across the teal-blue bay of Sandakan, dotted with fishing trawlers, to distant isles, it's easy to visualize the remarkable past of the former capital of British Borneo. Sadly, it was razed to the ground during WWII. After the war a roaring timber trade blossomed here.

Today this liitle city is buzzing again with the success of palm-oil and tourism industry and the busy, compact city centre retains little of its former colonial romance.

As well as it is a gateway to Sepilok Orang Utan Centre, Sun Bear Centre, Labuk Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Selingan Turtle Island and Kinabatangan River, Sabah's second city is dotted with religious relics, colonial mansions and haunting mementoes of  WWII.
