The Mari Mari Cultural Village offers a glimpse into the lives of Sabah’s tribal tribes. Located deep in the countryside of Inanam just outside Kota Kinabalu, the village operates as a museum that preserves Borneo ethnic culture and history.
The visit offers the opportunity to see and experience the culture and lifestyle of how the indigenous ethnic tribes used to live in the olden days when electricity had not yet been introduced to their land.
The village features 5 different ethnic tribes and they are the rice farmer the Kadazan-Dusun, the longhouse resident Rungus, the hunters and fisherman Lundayeh, the Cowboy and sea gypsey Bajau, and the famously feared headhunting tribe Murut.
You are guided to each of the 5 houses and learn about how they used to live, spiritual belief of the jungle, try out the blow pipe to hunt, start a fire with bamboo and cook a meal with bamboos.
